A belligerent Rajnath Singh claimed on Friday that India ‘may’ have attacked Pakistani targets to ‘avenge the killing’ of a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier.
The Indian home minister made the remarks at a small Muzaffarnagar gathering. He was there to unveil a statue of iconic freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
“Kuchh hua hai, main bataunga nahin. Theek thaak hua hai. Vishwas rakhna theek thaak hua hai do teen din pehle. Aur aage bhi dekhiyega kya hoga. (Something has happened. Will not reveal. Something befitting has happened. Keep faith, it happened a day or two before. Wait and watch what happens next.)
BSF sources “confirmed” inflicting “significant” loss of life on the Pakistani side, the Indian publication claimed. The alleged killing prompted an alert along the Line of Control and international border with the Indian army chief delivering a pugnacious statement calling for ‘another surgical strike’.
