FPSC Allows Physically Challenged Students to Apply for All CSS Groups

Federal Public Service Commission has allowed physically challenged students to apply for all the twelve occupational groups of CSS. FPSC’s governing body had approved the decision earlier this year but it needed the approval of cabinet.

FPSC holds the competitive exams every year in February and students of all provinces can appear in the exam against open merit. Previously, the physically challenged students were allowed to apply for only four groups; postal services, information group, audit and accounts and trade and commerce. With this decision, now the disabled people will also be able to compete in other occupational groups.

A senior officer in FPSC revealed the decision was made after thorough discussion and will come into effect immediately. The issues of the physically challenged students started back in 20017. That time a physically impaired student stood fourth in the examination but was not allowed to enter Foreign Service of Pakistan. The prime minister was requested to change the rules and he had accepted the request leading to change in the rules.

The FPSC moved the summary to the prime minister for approval after a number of other students challenged the rules and went to pursue FPSC in courts after they made it to the top groups but were denied entries. This reform will help the physically challenged students and prove as an encouragement to succeed in the exam and become a part of top administrative groups.
