HBO said the prequel will take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones.

The channel has now ordered a pilot test for the prequel. If all goes well with the pilot, the network will order a full TV series.

The news of the prequel have excited fans across the world who are already waiting eagerly for the final season of GOT, which is expected to be broadcasted next year.

The prequel has not yet been titled and was created by British screenwriter Jane Goldman with author George RR Martin.
