Muhammad Ali Jinnah Park at Winnipeg, Manitoba was inaugurated by Tariq Azim Khan, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada in May 2018. This project is a result of the great efforts of our Pakistani community residing in Manitoba.
The locality’s first ever Public Park is named after the most influential Pakistani leader “Muhammad Ali Jinnah”.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by hundreds of Canadians who proudly highlighted the great sacrifices and unparalleled efforts of the founding fathers of Pakistan for a separate homeland for Muslims.
This initiative will uphold the Pakistani culture in Canada, reflect resident’s love for the founder of Pakistan and act as a channel in promoting understanding between the communities.
Dr Rashid Bahri, community leader who steered the crusade for Muhammad Ali Jinnah Park mentioned, “Jinnah is closer to the heart of Pakistanis and this park is sure to remind our forthcoming generations about the great leader”.
City Councillor Janice Luke disclosed her gratitude to work with the Pakistani community for the maintenance of the park and declared it worthy for the people to visit the park and conduct cultural galas. An announcement for construction of cricket ground was also made.
Masrur Khan, President PSA Manitoba, Terry Duguid and Iqra Khalid members of Canadian Parliament also graced the ceremony with their presence.
