Though Pakistan film makers are doing well in terms of local productions and are making waves across the world, we still do not have sufficient content to meet the expenses of our cinemas and cineplexes and their employees. Hence, it becomes a compulsion to import films from across the border to fulfil the annual expenses incurred by our cinemas. Moreover, Pakistan is one of the largest markets for Bollywood films where fans admire Bollywood celebs from the core of their hearts and watch their movies with keen interest.
To fans' ultimate relief and utter happiness, Salman Khan’s much awaited Race 3 has released in Pakistan. Now another Bollywood movie ‘Dhadak’ is all set to hit local silver screens on July 20th.
The news was confirmed by the media and marketing manager of a renowned film distribution company in conversation with a popular local entertainment website.
Dhadak, which is remake of Marathi language film Sairat, is the debut venture of Jhanvi Kapoor, daughter of late veteran actress Sridevi Kapoor. It also features Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Kapoor as a debutante.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the story revolves around two love birds played by Ishaan and Jhanvi. The movie, which is set in Rajasthan, will depict caste divide in Hindu culture.
The original Marathi film, of which Dhadak is a remake, did wonders on the box office, according to Indian media reports. Let’s see whether Dhadak will do the same or not.
Will the Pakistani audiences love the debutante duo Jhanvi and Ishaan? Will they get a great response on the local box office? Nothing can be said with surety as of now. We have to wait to find out the answers of these questions until the movie is released.
Well, we just can’t wait to see the chemistry between Ishaan and Jhanvi after having a glimpse of it, in some of the already released songs of the movie.
Earlier this year, Kareena-Sonam starrer Veeray Di Wedding, was banned from releasing in Pakistan due to its vulgar content and indecent language.
Salman Khan starrer Race 3 released in Pakistan eight days after Eid as a ban was imposed on the release of Indian films during the Eid week in order to boost the locally produced films.
According to box office reports, Race 3 opened with huge numbers in Pakistan and is giving tough competition to Mahira Khan’s Saat Din Mohabbat In which is another big release of the season.
This was expected as Race 3 trailer had taken Pakistan social media by storm on its release. Moreover, Race and Race 2 had also done record business in the country, setting the trend for the newly-released sequel.
Well, of course we are not hoping the same for Dhadak because it features budding actors who do not have much fan following in Pakistan as of now.
May be Sridevi’s fan power works for Jhanvi Kapoor and audiences buy tickets of the romantic love story to see whether Jhanvi makes it up to the deceased Bollywood queen when it comes to acting on-screen.
Dhadak is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma productions and Zee Studios.
