Late Sridevi awarded with special award at IIFA 2018

Late Sridevi has been awarded with a special award at IIFA 2018 for her long-term services in the Indian Film Industry. The special award was presented by Anil Kapoor and was received by her grieving husband Boney Kapoor. 

Sridevi tragically died in February earlier this year when she had a cardiac arrest while bathing in her Dubai hotel room. The news had come as a shock for her family, friends and fans all around the world. She had been in Dubai alongside her family to attend relative and actor Mohit Marwah’s wedding. The wedding had been completed and everyone else had flew back to India whilst the late actress had stayed back for a few days on her own. 

It is important to note here that Anil Kapoor was not only the younger brother-in-law of Sridevi but was also her costar in several movies. Together they had acted in blockbuster Bollywood successes such as Mr. India, Judai, Laadla, Mr. Behcahra, Lamhay and many others. 

Anil Kapoor presented the award to her husband Boney Kapoor. Boney is a successful film maker and producer. Both of them famously fell in love while Boney was already married and had two children. Boney has left his first wife to marry Sridevi back in the day. At time of marriage, Sridevi had already been pregnant with her first child Jahnvi Kapoor, who is about to make her big debut in the film industry on July 20^th with her movie Dhadak. 

Even though he did not share a cordial relationship with Sri in her life, stepson and Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor was by the side of his father on this emotional moment to offer support. Daughters of Sridevi, Jahnvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor were noticeably absent from the event. It is believed that Janhvi is busy promoting her upcoming Bollywood debut film ‘Dhadak’. 

IIFA 2018 was held in Thailand this year and attended by several big Bollywood stars as always including Arjun Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Bobby Deol, Karan Johar and Shraddha Kapoor. The show will air some time later in July.
