Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar has managed to stay in limelight for quite a few days due to her offensive comments about Pakistan and the backlash she received on them.
According to Indian news agency ANI, her Veeray Di Wedding co-star Sonam Kapoor has jumped into the matter to defend Swara, amid the severe backlash and trolling from Pakistanis.
Hitting back at Pakistanis and defending her co-actor, Sonam said, “I think people just like to troll her because she has an opinion and a point of view, and I guess that shows how much they love her because the other side of hate is always love. So Swara, you have a lot of lovers!”
The two beauties also shared the screens in Raanjhanaa and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
In case you are wondering, what is this all about, let me brief you a little about how it all started.
This entire controversy dates back to when Veeray Di Wedding was banned in Pakistan due to its vulgar content.
While talking about the unexpected ban on the movie in Pakistan, in an interview with Indian film critic Rajeev Masand, Swara used inappropriate remarks for Pakistani and its people.
She said, ‘Pakistan is a non-secular state so I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state?’
“I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan,” added the Ranjhaana actress.
See, she literally called Pakistan ‘a failing state’.
Hence, she was slammed on her face by many of our celebrities including Urwa Hocane, Armeena Rana Khan, Gohar Rasheed, and Mehwish Hayat.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Veere Di Wedding is about four friends who are making preps to attend a wedding.
Released on June 1, the film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sheikhs Talsamia in key roles.
