Diana, the princess of Wales tragically passed away in a car accident in 1997. Today, her younger son Prince Harry of Wales, got married to his lady love beautiful American actress Meghan Markle in a lavish yet intimate ceremony at the St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
UK and the world have been celebrating the union of Harry and Meghan. This wedding has been in the news ever since the engagement was announced back in November 2017. Prince Harry proposed to Meghan in a night-in at the Nottingham Cottage over chicken roast dinner.
From the day the engagement was announced until today – when they finally became Mr& Mrs – the media has been frantically obsessing with the Royal Wedding of the year. Of course, the couple has been over the moon in the past 6 months as well as they planned their big day with valor and zest.
The one thing that we cannot help but notice is how Harry has kept his late mother, Princess Diana involved in everything – from his proposal to the wedding day itself.
At the time of proposal, Harry presented Meghan with a ring that he had gotten designed himself. The ring was very special because it is a three-stone ring. The center stone is surrounded by two little love diamonds that are in fact from the personal collection of Diana herself. At time of the first official interview right after announcing his engagement, Harry had also said how Diana must be very excited for him and that she would have been best friends with Meghan.
6 months after the engagement – the prince and his princess tied the knot surrounded by 600 people at the St. George Chapel in Windsor. Harry made sure Diana was with him, right there, in the most thoughtful ways imaginable.
Firstly, the flowers that the bride carried were hand-picked by Harry and they included Diana’s favorite flowers. Interestingly, the entire bouquet of flowers that Meghan carried had much deeper meaning to it. The flower bouquet was made of
Myrtles: The traditional flowers of the Royal Family that every bride must carry with her on her wedding day.
Lily of the Valley: A beautiful flower that signifies happiness.
Astrantia: It belongs to a flower family that symbolizes strength, bravery and courage.
Astible: A unique flower that represents patience and compassion.
Forget-me-not: Princess Diana’s favorite flowers those were included in the bunch as a tribute by Harry to his late mother.
In addition to the flower, there was another unique way that Harry marked his tribute to his mother. On the left side of the aisle where the royal family was seated – the chair next to William and right in front of the Queen was left empty deliberately. This place was meant for Diana and it marked her presence in the ceremony even if she was not there.
Princess Diana was better known as the Princess of hearts but more than anything, she was a loving and devoted mother. It is emotional yet proud to see that her boys, both William and Harry, make sure that she lives on through them. Prince Harry has won millions of hearts by paying his own little tributes to his mother in his own special way. We are sure that wherever Diana must be resting peacefully today – she must be extremely proud, happy and excited for her son and daughter-in-law; now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
