We are now only days away from the biggest wedding of the year as Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle are all set to tie the knot on May 19, 2018.
Prince Harry, formally known as the Prince Henry of Wales, announced his engagement to American girlfriend and former Suits star Meghan Markle in November 2017. The wedding is scheduled to take place on May 19, 2018 according to the Royal customs and traditions. It was announced by Kensington Palace.
Prince Harry is the younger son of Prince Charles of Wales and Princess Diana (Late). He is the younger brother of Duke of Cambridge Prince William. He is currently 6th in line to the throne following behind Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, Prince George, Prince William and Prince Charles in the run.
Meghan Markle is an American-born Television actress who is best known for her role in the popular TV series called ‘Suits’. Meghan was previously married to a Hollywood producer but is now divorced. She has quit her acting career after completing 6 seasons of the show. Meghan will be taking up the role as a full-time Royal after her wedding. She is currently busy engaging in commitments as a fiance to Prince Harry such as charity events or occasional apperances with the Prince.
There had been a lot of speculation about Prince Harry’s romance with American television actress Meghan Markle for a long time before the couple confirmed their romance with joint appearance at the Invictus Games that were held in Canada last year. They were also joined by Meghan's mother Doria at the event.
The young royal got engaged to the American beauty after receiving blessings from his father Prince Charles and the Majesty Queen. It is royal custom to seek permission from the Queen of England before you can propose to your partner for marriage.
With only days left now to the Royal wedding of the year, here is everything you need to know about it.
1. The wedding is going to take place at the St. George’s Chapel at noon on May 19, 2018.
2. Prince William Duke of Cambridge, elder brother of Prince Harry, will play the role of best man to the groom. Previously at his wedding in 2011 to Kate Middleton, Prince Harry was seen playing the same role. So this is more like a role reversal kind of thing.
3. The soon-to-be married couple has invited 1200 people from the common public to become part of the wedding. They will be allowed to gather in the grounds outsides the Windsor Castle to become a part of the ceremony and the ongoing events throughout the day.
4. Pippa Middleton played the role of bridesmaid to her sister Kate Middleton at her wedding to Prince William in April 2011. However, Meghan Markle is an only child. She has not requested anyone to be her bridesmaid at the big day.
5. Her father, Thomas Markle Sr. will walk her down the aisle whilst her mother Doria will be present by the bride’s side as well. Mother and Daughter will arrive to the venue on Royal carriage.
6. For the royal procession (that is a tradition) Harry and Meghan have chosen the Ascot Landau carriage. The procession is expected to last at least 25 minutes after the wedded couple emerges from the Chapel after the wedding rituals are completed.
7. The official wedding cake has been ordered to be lemon cake by the Royal couple. The order is placed with the pastry chef Claire Ptak who is owner of Violet Cakes, London.
8. There is a lot of speculation about the dress of the bride. Whilst details are not confirmed – it is being presumed the Meghan has chosen Ralph and Lauren to design her wedding gown.
9. The Royal family is bearing all expenses for the Royal wedding.
10. Following the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, the couple and guests will head to Buckingham Palace for a tea party hosted by the Queen. An evening reception is then going to be hosted by Prince Charles.
11. Duchess Kate Middleton who has just welcomed Prince Louis in April last month is going to attend the wedding. It is unsure whether the newborn prince will be in attendance or not.
The wedding will be broadcast live for audiences watching from all around the world. Make sure you tune into the Royal wedding of the year to witness history being made.
