Candidates are declaring their assets as election 2018 is approaching, and due to Nawaz Sharif's NAB case many revelations were expected this time, but nobody saw this coming. The richest candidate of election 2018 is neither Bilawal Bhutto Zardari nor Maryam Nawaz Sharif, but an independent candidate from Muzaffargarh, contesting election from NA-128 and PP-270, who has declared his assets to be worth whooping 403 billion rupees.
In the submitted affidavit to Election Commission of Pakistan, he has stated the ownership of 350 acres of orchards, farmland, three residential houses and household appliances, collectively worth 403 billion rupees.
Mohammad Hussain Shaikh, the said candidate, has indicated ownership of 40 per cent of the land of Muzaffargarh as well as Taliri, Chak Taliri, Lang Malana and Latkaran areas.
The land is said to be previously disputed for 88 years; however, recently a Supreme Court’s bench comprised of the chief justice, Justice Umar Atta and Justice Faisal Arab issued the verdict in favour of Hussain Shaikh. Hence, this verdict has made him so far the richest candidate in the upcoming elections.
Previously, Pakistan People Party’s candidate Arbab Alamgir has also declared assets of billions and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari, Hamza Shehbaz and Maryam Nawaz Sharif bag assets of hundreds of millions of rupees.
