Veere Di Wedding no more to be screened in Pakistan

One of the most-waited Bollywood film “Veere di Wedding” is due to be released in cinemas on June 1, 2018; but unfortunately it is banned in Pakistan.

The entertaining movie features ‘female buddy comedy’ and casts some great film stars including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania for leading roles.

According to Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) the film consist of some indecent content that is not acceptable for the Pakistani audience. Following this, the film distributors have also withdrawn their applications after witnessing the bawdy and vulgar sexual dialogues used in it.

Veere di Wedding is based on a story of a friends' group of four females who are preparing to attend a wedding. It is a production of the famous Bollywood filmstar Anil Kapoor and is directed by Shashanka Ghosh.

On the contrary, the Sindh Film Censor Board have approved the film after eliminating the improper content but the CBFC is firm with its decision of banning it which is being duly followed by the Punjab Film Censor Board.

A senior official of CBFC said, “Keeping in view the perception that vulgar and idecent content depicted in Veere di Wedding will not be acceptable in our society, we have decided to ban it.”

The views of film distribution community are that they were unaware of bawdy content of the film 'Veere di Wedding' when the applications of its distribution were put forward. Although, they readily support the decision of Sindh Board but will firmly abide by the decision of CBFC.
