Veteran politician Rasool Bux Palijo was laid to rest in his native village in Jungshahi, District Thatta on Friday.
Palijo, the founder of Awami Tehreek, passed away on June 7 in Karachi at the age of 88.
He was suffering from cardiac and respiratory problems and was admitted in a private hospital in Karachi.
Thousands including politicians, literary artists, journalists, writers and leaders attended the funeral of the nationalist icon. Male and female workers of Awami Tehreek carried his coffin.
Palijo’s son, Ayaz Latif, performed his last rites. Ayaz Latif is the general secretary of Grand Democratic Alliance.
He is buried in a graveyard in Mungar Khan Palijo village located in Jungshahi, Thatta.
Workers of Sindhiyani Tehreek paid tribute to Palijo during his burial by singing an anthem outside the graveyard.
Shindhiyani Tehreek is a movement of women of Sindh, formed in 1980’s , with the aim to fight discriminatory laws.
